CHS will take care of the logistics of Finnish samples in an extensive worldwide research project, which aims at creating a vaccine for Clostridium difficile, a type of diarrhoea caused by antibiotics. The project begins this autumn and runs for three years with altogether 16,000 patients around the world. 13 European countries are participating, and over 200 Finnish patients will be examined.
The sample logistics from patients to the relevant laboratories plays a central part in the project. The execution of collecting samples from patients is about to begin and this will be almost fully operational by October 2017. During the project, the CHS contact persons are on call 24/7.
This kind of a research project is in every respect strictly regulated in order to fulfil all scientific requirements. All shipments within the life science umbrella through CHS will be handled and shipped observing the GDP-guidelines set by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Union (EU) (GDP=Good Distribution Practice).
