Fast and efficient customer service – key in the success of an industrial transport project

CHS received early last December, on 4.12.2017 to be exact, a request for offer concerning a big industrial project transport from Finland to southern Africa. The project transport consisted of two SOC containers and two diesel engines weighing 83 tons each – all under one Bill of Lading.

The timetable for the transport was extremely tight: the consignment had to leave before the turn of the year, and preferably before the coming holiday season to avoid any possible interruptions and delays with transport during the holidays.

The project involved two phases, the first of which had already been executed by a forwarder from outside Finland.  The project’s consignee was not, however, satisfied with the execution due to problems in co-operations and was urgently looking for a new partner to the second phase of the project. Time was scarce for only two weeks were available for finding the new partner, receiving and approving an offer and preparing the departure of the transport.

The consignee’s house forwarder was a member of the same global project cargo network as we in CHS. He contacted us on 4.12.2017. Already the next day we gave an offer to the house forwarder after checking the availability of the transport capacity and the execution of official formalities. We also presented the necessary references on CHS experience in handling big industrial transport projects.

We received a quick answer to our offer, which we had given without delay. As early as on 6.12.2017 we learned that CHS had been chosen to execute the second phase of the project.  Based on efficient and focused preparations as well as preliminary investigations the project transport left Finland for southern Africa according to the requested schedule on 19.12.2017, before the holiday season. According to the set timetable, the consignment will arrive at the destination in the beginning of February on 2.2.2018.
